A.G. Smith is an artist and illustrator based in Windsor and Parry Sound, Ontario. Born in New Mexico and growing up in North Carolina, A.G. received his BFA (1960) from East Carolina University and his MA (1969) and MFA (1971) from University of Iowa; he is a Canadian citizen and has lived in Canada since the 1980s.
A.G. has a life-long interest in history. He has written, illustrated, and co-authored over a hundred children’s books.
Most recently his carefully articulated models of ancient peoples’ shelters and transport were exhibited at Windsor’s Chimczuk Museum in the solo exhibition, “Material Culture: The things we make to live”.
